Description
Explore the underwater wonder of the National Park with two dives on one of the most impressive reefs in the Dominican Republic!
This reef, known as Peñón, is located a little further away than the local dive sites in Bayahibe. The boat trip there will take approximately half an hour, but the journey is worth every minute. The reef extends mainly to about 12 meters deep, without exceeding 18 meters at any time.
Most of the time, following the direction of the current and depending on the weather conditions, we will dive along the reef, stopping to admire the rich marine life that surrounds it.
Among the vibrant corals and sponges, we’ll spot rays, lobsters, crabs, moray eels, sea turtles, seahorses and, if we’re lucky, even the nurse shark. The diversity of fish is amazing, with species such as parrotfish, logfish, angelfish, lionfish and many more.
We cannot forget to mention that this reef is full of puffer fish, a true underwater spectacle!
